Ivanhoé Cambridge recently announced that the Metropolis at Metrotown mall would be demolished sometime next year likely in the summer. Because of this many businesses like Apple, Zara, Uniqlo, Victoria Secret, Winners Homesense, Lululemon, Aritzia and Disney Store will be closing their doors and moving to other locations. However some stores like Walmart, SportChek, H&M, Muji, Hudson's Bay, Samsung, T&T Supermarket and Tiptop will stay at the mall. And thousands of people are not happy. Mr. Samuel said. " I have been shopping at this mall for about ten years and hearing about this make me and my wife really upset I will likely never feel the same shopping at this new mall." Ivanhoé Cambridge said that the new mall will be called Metrotown Square an outdoor shopping centre that will be home to about 625 stores. They say that the new mall will open sometime in 2027 and that they will be doing something similar with Woodgrove Centre, Mic Mac Mall and Market Mall. Stores like Nordstrom, Harry Rosen, Dollarama, Saks Off 5th, Staples, Micheals, Costco and Marshalls (The replacement for Winners Homesense) are going to be the new stores in the mall. This mall will be the second mall in North America with Walmart and a luxury anchor the first is Square One Shopping Centre with Walmart and Holt Renfrew. This mall will also be the second mall in Canada to have a Costco the first mall being Les Promenades Gatineau.
