FIFA 20 - UK market blighted by Brexit-induced tensions

The much anticipated release of EA Sports' highest grossing annual video game, FIFA 20 on 27 September could be jeopardised due to 'Brexit-induced tensions' according to a senior government figure from the Department for Culture, Media and Sport.

As millions of video gaming Brits eagerly await the arrival of the next annual instalment of the world's much-loved FIFA franchise, many could be left disappointed as the UK grapples with EU trade tariff and shipping issues.

These issues have come to the fore due to France, a current EU member and second largest economy in the bloc, being the major importer of the game from EA's head quarters in California. A leading gaming journalist, Jeff Gerstmann has written a piece for CNET's 'Most Played Games: In the Memory Forever' editorial in the most recent edition published 27 August 2019. His words have sent shudders down the backs of ardent gamers who prefer buying physical copies of their cherished game: "this is a huge development; it could mean that many people don't get their hands on a copy until the end of November 2019. That's a whole two months late!"

More to follow.
